Driving and Learner License Validity: Recently, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced significant changes to the rules governing driving and learner licenses. The Ministry’s decision will now bring relief to those whose driving, learner, and conductor licenses are about to expire.
The Road Ministry issued the decree, stating that the validity of learner, driving, and conductor licenses has been extended until February 29, 2024. Following the Ministry’s exceptional decision, the validity of licenses that were set to expire on January 30, 2024 or February 15, 2024 has been extended until February 29, 2024.
People were encountering this issue.
- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued the decision regarding the license since many people were having difficulty renewing their licenses. People are having problems renewing their licenses because of an ongoing technical issue with the system.
- Aside from that, people who were having trouble getting their learner’s license transformed into a driver’s license (Driving and Learner License). The Ministry has now reached this choice due to infrastructure concerns with its ‘Sarthi’ portal and has prolonged the license’s validity.
- According to a news release from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, infrastructure difficulties were reported on the Sarathi portal between January 31, 2024 and February 12, 2024. As a result, people had trouble accessing licensing-related services.
People won’t be fined.
- Taking this decision, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has extended the validity of such learner’s, driver’s, and conductor’s licenses, which had expired between January 31 and February 15, 2024, until February 29, 2024. Aside from that, no fines will be enforced on individuals for this. People’s licenses will now be regarded valid, with no fines.
