SWAYAM Plus Portal: This news is important for students because recently SWAYAM Portal has been launched by the Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan. The government has launched it to offer courses developed in collaboration with the industry.
The program has been developed in collaboration with industries including L&T, Microsoft and Cisco. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that our aim is to make education industry worthy. Through this portal, the students are to be provided with the necessary skills and knowledge in the industry along with education.
This portal will be operated by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Along with this, Swayam-NPTEL and Massive Open Online courses have also been started by IIT Madras to provide educational opportunities. A statement has been given by IIT, Madras that SWAYAM Portal has the largest registration base today. Under this portal, registrations have increased from 31 lakh in 2017 to more than 72 lakh by 2023.
Why was this portal launched:-
SWAYAM Portal launched by the government aims to increase the employability of college students etc. SWAYAM Portal will offer programs related to Indian knowledge systems as well as many sectors including IT or ITES, management studies, health care, manufacturing, energy, computer science and engineering, hospitality and tourism.
Launching the SWAYAM Portal, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the National Education Policy is implemented in the country and this is the first time that reputed industry institutes will come up with their own academy. Will partner with UGC and education departments, all these courses will be recognized by an institute like IIT Madras.
What will be its benefit?
A statement has been given by IIT, Madras that through this portal, along with studies, other skills will also be taught to the students. Students will be prepared according to the demand for jobs in the market. It was told by IIT, Madras that this course will bridge the gap between education and industry and the students who graduate from this will be able to get more jobs. Multilingual content, AI-enabled chatbots to assist students and credit recognition are features of the SWAYAM Plus platform.
