Metro work is progressing rapidly in Bihar's capital Patna. Starting of metro service will facilitate people in commuting. Along with this, people will also get relief from the daily traffic jams in the city. Work is going on in a planned manner for all the phases of the metro. BJP MLA and Urban Development Minister Nitin Naveen gave complete information about this while talking to the media on Tuesday. He told that the work of the first phase of the metro is going on rapidly. It will have connectivity from Malahi Pakri to the bus stand.

There are many different phases of this project. We want to complete PC-01 and PC-02 in the first phase. After that work will be done on different stages including PC-03, PC-04. For the expansion of Patna Metro, funding is being done through 20 percent state share, 20 percent central share and 60 percent loan. Through this, the work of Metro will be expedited. He told that after permission from JICA, the process of tender for loan is going on. Our effort is that the work of the remaining phases of the Metro will also be completed soon.

Apart from Patna, plans are being made to expand the metro to nearby cities as well. DPR is being prepared for this, which will be sent to the Centre as soon as it is completed. It includes four big cities – Bhagalpur, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga. Nitin Naveen further said, we want a complete networking of the metro to be made so that people can travel easily. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has set a target to complete the priority corridor of Patna Metro by May 2025.

We are trying to complete it by the stipulated time by resolving the technical issues. According to the information, Patna Metro Rail Corporation is planning to use new technologies for its automatic fare collection system. Under which QR code and Near Field Communication phones will be allowed to use the system. The fare of the metro will be decided after the commercial work starts.
