Washington commanders kicker : The Washington Commanders signed kicker Austin Seibert to a deal on Tuesday.
The move comes only a day after fellow kicker Cade York was released. York missed two field goals and had a kickoff fall out of bounds in Washington’s 37-20 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
York was released three weeks after the Commanders surrendered a conditional seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns to acquire the second-year kicker.
“I think it just goes to show we have really high standards,” Commanders coach Dan Quinn said in a Monday press conference.
Seibert, 27, has made 45 of 56 field goal attempts in 31 career games with the Browns (2019-20), Cincinnati Bengals (2020), Detroit Lions (2021-22), and New York Jets (2023).
Also on Tuesday, Washington added rookie offensive tackle Anim Dankwah to the practice squad.
On Sunday, the Commanders will host the New York Giants (0-1).
