Villagers got angry when MNREGA work was done with JCB late at night, stopped the work

Large scale irregularities are being committed in the works being carried out under the MNREGA scheme in Rani-1 located in Bachhwara block of Begusarai district. On Thursday late night, seeing the use of JCB machine in the MNREGA scheme, the villagers protested fiercely. Let us tell you that leveling work (work code 0517009010/LD/20411940) is being conducted around the community toilet of Mahadalit Tola located in ward number 10 of the said Panchayat. Where on 26 May 2024, the work of pouring soil from the tractor started at the work site. Whereas probably the date of the master roll had expired before the said date. The board was also not installed at the work site. After the protest of the villagers on this, the scheme board was installed at the site the next day. Thereafter, soil was poured from the tractor for several days, no laborer was ever used at the work site.

On Thursday night, the heap of soil dumped by the tractor at the said work site was being leveled by a JCB machine. On reaching there, the villagers protested fiercely against the JCB machine working at the work site and made a video and immediately informed the program officer Bachhwara, JE MNREGA and the concerned employment officer on mobile. The villagers said that no labourer has ever been used at the said work site, rather machines have been used by usurping the rights of the labourers.

As per the rules, the government is running an ambitious MNREGA scheme under the Employment Guarantee Act with the objective of providing work to labourers in their own villages and providing them 100 days of employment per year. But if we look at the reality of the MNREGA working style of Rani Ek Panchayat, it seems like flouting the MNREGA rules and defaming the government working style. Also, the villagers said that when a complaint is made to the Mukhiya about the said working style of MNREGA, he gets furious and starts threatening the complainant to implicate him in the Harijan Act. Villagers Rakesh Yadav, Omprakash Yadav, Ajit Kumar, Ravindra Kumar, Vicky Kumar, Vicky Yadav and other villagers said that a complaint has been made to the MNREGA program officer by submitting an application regarding the matter. In case no action is taken against the guilty people, we villagers will be forced to launch a fierce movement.
