What’s required to get Live View
Your device must be compatible with AR Kit/ARC ore.
There should be good Street View coverage of pedestrian walkways in the area you are in.
You can see Live View in areas that are already covered in Street View.
Tip: The first time you try Live View, a message asking permission to access the camera will pop up on your phone.

How to check if Live View is working
When you tap ‘Live View’ , a message will pop up on the phone’s screen. The message suggests pointing the phone’s camera at buildings, sign boards, or nearby objects that Google Maps can identify with Street View data from the area. Once you’ve found your location, Google Maps will show navigation directions on your phone’s screen.

If Live View still doesn’t work
Make sure you use Live View in the following places:
In areas where there is full light
outdoor
Where you can point the phone’s camera at buildings and sign boards instead of trees and people
where ‘street view’ exists
For your safety when using Live View
We recommend that you use Live View only when necessary. Such as when starting a journey, reaching a turn or when you are about to reach a destination.
Important: We recommend not using your phone when you know where to go.
