It was constructed in 2009. But, due to continuous increase in revenue from this railway station and other railway technical reasons, Railways recognized it as New Barauni Junction on 15 December 2020. After this, many works were done for passenger facilities and beautification.
There is no stoppage of any MEMU train.
You will be surprised to know that 8 passenger trains pass through New Barauni Junction located on Barauni Katihar railway line every day. Not a single stoppage has been approved here. Whereas, stoppages of many important express trains have been given. At the same time, to travel by train to small stations, people of about 15 nearby villages have to reach Barauni Junction, about 3 to 5 kilometers away, and catch a passenger train or are forced to travel by road.
Strong in terms of revenue
If we look at the figures, the Railways earns a revenue of more than Rs 2.5 lakh annually from New Barauni Junction. The number of passengers coming from different stations or going to different stations from New Barauni Junction Railway Station is said to be 36000 to 45000 per month. In this, the number of passengers taking un-reserved tickets going to various stations per month is more than 15000. Due to which Railways earns revenue of Rs 11 lakh per month and more than Rs 1 crore 32 lakh every year.
