At 11:40 p.m., just over 85,000 people in the KMBC viewing area are without electricity.
11:28 p.m. – The severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Wyandotte, northern Miami, Johnson, and southeastern Platte counties has been canceled because the storms have passed on.
11:25 p.m. – Cass, Clay, Ray, Lafayette, Jackson, and Johnson counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 11:45 p.m. CDT.
The storm is generating 60 mph wind gusts, which could damage roofs, siding, and trees.
Kansas City, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, Leawood, Raytown, Liberty, Gladstone, Grandview, Belton, Prairie Village, Raymore, Warrensburg, Grain Valley, Excelsior Springs, Harrisonville, Smithville, Kearney, Pleasant Hill, and Oak Grove are among the communities impacted.
At 11:24 p.m., more over 80,000 people in the Kansas City and Lawrence areas are without electricity.
11:10 p.m. – Severe storms with exceptionally high winds will blow into Kansas and Missouri on Wednesday night, producing extensive power disruptions. As of 11:00 p.m., almost 90,000 Evergy customers in Kansas and Missouri were without power.
11:06 p.m. – Between outages reported by Evergy customers and BPU customers in Wyandotte County, slightly under 60,000 people are without power tonight in the Kansas City metro region and Lawrence.
At 11:01 p.m., little under 6,200 Wyandotte County residents are without power as severe thunderstorms roll through the metro region.
10:56 p.m. – The Eudora City Fire Department reported that trees and electricity lines have fallen in several spots. Residents are encouraged to avoid travel if possible. Emergency workers are responding to reported occurrences, but it will take time.
10:52 p.m. – Wyandotte, Leavenworth, northern Johnson, southeastern Atchison, southeastern Buchanan, southern Clinton, western Clay, Platte, and northwestern Jackson counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 11 p.m. CDT.
