Ron DeSantis : Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to find methods to undermine Florida voters’ judgment on women’s reproductive rights.
Just when you think he’s done everything he can to sabotage the approaching Amendment 4 vote in November, he comes up with new and desperate ways to prevent voting.
Recently, this has taken several forms, including using his personal goon squad to knock on the doors of some of the 1 million Floridians who signed a petition to place an abortion-rights amendment on the November ballot, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Seven months after the state certified that the collected signatures for Amendment 4 were valid and more than 100,000 more than required, DeSantis has launched a voter-fraud investigation with his own Office of Election Crimes and Security, bypassing the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s traditional role.
The last time DeSantis used his legislature-gifted queasy cops to frighten voters in Democratic-leaning districts of the state, he arrested 20 convicted felons who had been handed voting cards by their supervisor of elections and told they could vote.
That resulted in a slew of dropped accusations and highlighted the political aspect of DeSantis’ so-called voting integrity measures.
