oracle lawsuit settlement : Oracle 5 Million Privacy Settlement

oracle lawsuit settlement : Oracle has reached a landmark settlement agreement, paying $115 million to resolve claims that it violated privacy by tracking and selling personal data. This settlement could impact hundreds of millions of Americans, offering a potential financial reprieve for those whose data was allegedly mishandled by the tech giant.

What Happened?

Oracle, a major player in the tech industry, has been accused of maintaining an extensive network to track and record personal information, both online and offline. The lawsuit claims that Oracle’s systems monitored web browsing history, in-store purchases, geolocation, and more. This data was allegedly sold to third parties without the consent of those affected.

Although Oracle denies any wrongdoing, they have agreed to settle the case to avoid further legal complications.

Who Can Claim a Share?

If you lived in the U.S. since August 19, 2018, and your data was collected or sold through Oracle Advertising technologies, you might be eligible for compensation. This includes data acquired by Oracle ID Graph, Data Marketplace, or other advertising services.

Many affected individuals have already been contacted via email with a notice ID and confirmation code, but you do not need this information to file a claim. If you believe your data was impacted, you can submit a claim with your basic details online.

How to File a Claim

To file a claim, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Claim Form: Access the online filing system
  2. Submit Your Information: Provide your name, address, and contact details.
  3. Wait for Validation: If your claim is validated, you will receive your payment via a prepaid debit card, direct deposit, Venmo, or Zelle.

Be sure to submit your claim by the deadline of October 17, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

What to Expect

The amount of each payment is still uncertain and will depend on the number of approved claims.
