Bachhwara-Hajipur NH 122B Latest Update : The Gupta Dam road, which directly connects Hajipur to Murlitol in Bachhwara on the western border of Begusarai district, has now been converted into National Highway-122B. This 72 km long road parallel to the Ganga river is being built at a cost of Rs 624.43 crore. In the first phase, the construction work of this 42.68 km long road is going on between Murli Toll Chowk of Bachhwara and Mahanar.

In the first phase, the construction of this road between Murli Toll and Mahanar is to be completed at a cost of Rs 266 crore. In the second phase, this road will be built from Mahanar to Jadhua in Vaishali district near Gandhi Setu, which is about 29 km long. This road will be connected to NH-28 near Murli Toll Chowk situated on the western border of Begusarai district.

Local MP representative Prabhakar Rai said that two years ago, on the initiative of Union Minister Giriraj Singh, this 72 km long road between Bachhwara and Hajipur was given the status of National Highway-122B by the Road Transport Highway Department of the Government of India. The construction work of this road was pending till now while the process of land acquisition for road construction was being completed. After the construction of this road, people of Begusarai, Samastipur and Vaishali districts will also be able to travel to Hajipur and Patna easily. The distance from Bachhwara to Patna will be reduced by about 20 kilometers through this road.

After the construction of NH-122B, this will be the best alternative route for the people of the area to go directly to Hajipur and Patna by road. Earlier, due to this being a single road between Murli Toll and Mahnar, people had to face the problem of traffic jam while going to Hajipur and Patna.

It has been told that with the construction of NH-122B, the width of this road will now be 10 meters. After the construction of NH-122B, the road will turn towards south from the east of Murli Toll Plaza, which will become a better alternative route to go towards Hajipur and Patna. Now with the construction of this NH-122B on Gupta Lakhminia Dam in the said area, the existence of the dam there will be merged into the NH.
