Public Examination Bill 2024: Cases of paper leak were seen in many states of the country. After the paper is leaked, the examination is conducted again. In such a situation, along with the candidates, the department conducting the examination also has to face huge losses.
In view of this, it was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 5 February. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh introduced the bill. The bill provides for strict punishment and fine for paper leakage and giving exams in place of others. If found guilty in the paper leak case, he will be sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 crore. There will be severe punishment for appearing in the exam in place of another candidate. Let us know about this bill.
10 years imprisonment in paper leak
If proven guilty in the paper leak case, the culprit will be sentenced to 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 crore. If found guilty of taking the exam in place of someone else, the punishment will be 3 to 5 years in jail and a fine of Rs 10 lakh will also be imposed. At the same time, if any institute is found involved in paper leak and copying, then the entire expense of the examination will be recovered from it and its assets can also be confiscated.
Who will investigate the matter?
The cases of paper leak and copying will be investigated by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Police Commissioner level officers. The government will have the right to hand over the investigation to the central agency. This bill has been brought to bring transparency in the examination system.
