Actually, for this, the beneficiaries of ‘Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana’ will have to link their bank account and Aadhaar card. Only after that he will be able to take advantage of this scheme.

The plan was announced last year

Last year in the month of November, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had started the free LPG cylinder distribution campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for 1.75 crore families of the state. Under this scheme, the objective is to provide free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries twice a year on the occasion of Diwali and Holi. In this series, LPG cylinders were given to the beneficiaries on the occasion of Diwali in the month of November. At the same time, now Holi is coming, beneficiaries are going to get free cylinder on Holi also. For this the state government will spend Rs 2312 crore.

What is Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Ujjwala scheme in the year 2016. Under this scheme, till now more than 9 crore people have been given free LPG connections. Besides this, the government also gives a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder in this scheme. Earlier this subsidy was only Rs 200. Which was increased to Rs 300 last year. It is noteworthy that the beneficiary gets this subsidy for 12 LPG cylinders in a year.

Approval has been given for approximately 75 lakh LPG connections in 3 years from financial year 2023-24 to 2025-26. After this, the total number of beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will be around 10.35 crore. LPG cylinder is currently available at a price of Rs 903 for general customers in Delhi. Because the government had reduced the prices of LPG cylinders by Rs 200 last year.
