The internet and DMV eateries respond to Lee’s visit to Chocolate City.
Keith Lee, the internet’s favorite TikTok food critic, has made another stop on his national culinary tour. This time, Lee and his family went to the DMV, and boy did they have an entertaining day, to say the least.
Lee visited 12 restaurants in Washington, D.C. over the course of a week, but later announced on TikTok that he will only post a few. In the video, he stated, “We made a decision as a family and a team, as well as a personal decision, not to post the majority of them….Many of those videos are completely unhelpful.
Lee did his best to keep the eateries’ identities hidden, but that didn’t stop Soul Wingz Authentic Soul Food Diner and Oohhs & Aahhs Restaurant from stepping up to defend their establishments against criticism.
Keya Barnes, Oohhs & Aahhs director of operations, responded to Fox 5 by saying, “Keith Lee, if you’re still in the DMV, we’d love it if you’d reach out… it is always our mission and goal to serve the best food possible, and whenever we make a mistake, we like to admit it.”
Soul Wingz took a different strategy, swiftly posting on Instagram many times to make it clear that Lee had not even entered their restaurant. A post said, “We are waiting on @keith_lee125.” To clarify, he did not pay us a visit.”
