iPhone Air Production Rumors Quashed: Apple Denies Plans to Reduce Manufacturing

Company's Slimmest Phone Features 6.52-inch Super Retina XDR OLED Display and A19 Pro Chip Amidst Strong Demand.

WASHINGTON D.C. – American device maker Apple launched its much-anticipated iPhone 17 series last month, which includes four state-of-the-art smartphones. Recently, there were speculations regarding the iPhone Air model of this new iPhone series, suggesting that the company might reduce its manufacturing due to weak demand. However, Apple has now put an end to these speculations, clarifying that it has no plans to cut down the production of this smartphone.

In an investor note seen by AppleInsider, T D Cowen of TD Securities emphasized that Apple has no plans to reduce the manufacturing of iPhone Air this year. The note specifically stated that the production forecast for iPhone Air for the month of October remains unchanged. The manufacturing target for this smartphone is set at 3 million units in the third quarter (July-September) and 7 million units in the fourth quarter (October-December), indicating strong growth for the company. T D Cowen also estimated that the total production for the entire iPhone 17 series is expected to reach 54 million units in the September quarter and 79 million units in the December quarter.

Groundbreaking Design and Powerful Specifications

While there were speculations about the overall demand for the iPhone Air, the other models of the iPhone 17 series – iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max – are receiving strong demand for Apple. The iPhone Air itself comes with several impressive features that make it special. Its thickness is just 5.6 mm, making it Apple’s slimmest mobile phone to date. Its construction utilizes 80 percent recycled titanium, reflecting an eco-friendly approach.

Regarding the display, this smartphone features a stunning 6.52-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, providing an incredibly smooth visual experience. For performance, it is equipped with Apple’s powerful A19 Pro chip, capable of easily handling heavy tasks and gaming. In the camera setup, this smartphone comes with a 48-megapixel primary rear camera, ensuring high-quality photos. For selfies and video calls, it features an 18-megapixel front camera. The company claims that the battery of this smartphone can last up to 27 hours, which is sufficient for all-day use.

International Market and Manufacturing in India

Recently, a report by Nikkei Asia stated that Apple had decided to reduce the manufacturing of iPhone Air, citing lower sales of this smartphone in international markets other than China as the reason. However, the latest information from TD Securities refutes this report. It is also noteworthy that Apple’s new iPhone series smartphones are now being manufactured in India, which is a big step for the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

In the Indian smartphone market, Apple has once again secured its position among the top five smartphone companies in the third quarter. The company achieved approximately 10 percent market share with shipments of about 4.9 million units. Sales of iPhones 16s have significantly contributed to this growth, demonstrating Apple’s increasing popularity in India. The decision not to reduce iPhone Air production indicates that Apple has full confidence in its slimmest and premium device and is committed to meeting its global demand.
