Sanchi Stupa is 46 km from Bhopal, the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated at a distance of North-East. Sanchi Stupa History:

Sanchi Stupa is also known as Stupa No. The work of establishing temples, stupas and monuments in Sanchi was started in the third century BC on the orders of Emperor Ashoka and the entire construction work lasted till the 12th century BC. He sent his son Mahendra and daughter Sanghamitra to Sri Lanka to propagate Buddhism.

 

Sanchi Stupa Architecture:

The nucleus of the Sanchi Stupa is built over the relics of Lord Buddha in the form of a hemispherical brick structure with a raised roof, a railing on the spire and a stone chhatri to form a chhatra-like structure that appears to be of high quality.
