Electricity consumers in Bihar have got great relief. A two percent cut in electricity rates has been announced. The State Electricity Regulatory Commission on Friday announced new rates for the year 2024-25, in which electricity rates of all categories have been reduced by two percent.
It is said that the power companies had proposed an increase in electricity rates by about three percent this year. This is the fourth consecutive year when there has been no increase in electricity rates. After the hearing, the Commission has decided to reduce the rate of non-subsidized electricity by two percent for all categories of consumers.
The Regulatory Commission said in its decision that the proposal to increase the rates keeping in mind the revenue surplus of the distribution companies was rejected. It has been decided to reduce electricity rates for all categories of consumers in the financial year 2024-25.
