Dr. Dalton Renick, previously employed as a pediatrician, faced multiple allegations of inappropriate behavior, leading to the suspension of his license on Thursday.
Allegations Against Dr. Renick
According to a report from the Virginia Department of Health, Dr. Renick’s alleged violations occurred between August 2021 and February 2024 while he worked at Carilion Clinic and more recently at New Beginnings Pediatrics in Blacksburg. The disturbing behaviors attributed to him include:
- Using vulgar language in front of patients, including children
- Making derogatory comments about newborns, including calling one “stupid”
- Discussing inappropriate topics regarding newborns and young children
- Making inappropriate sexual comments
- Comparing medical procedures to sexual acts
- Making derogatory remarks about children’s appearances and capabilities
- Using racist language
- Delivering inappropriate and insensitive comments to patients and their families
When confronted about his behavior, Dr. Renick claimed he was merely joking and that others failed to understand his humor. He admitted to making deeply concerning remarks, including expressing a desire for sexual relations with newborns.
