Cruise ship stuck : Villa Vie Odyssey resembles any other cruise ship, with a modern pool deck, a buffet, a pickleball court, and ecstatic guests.
However, Villa Vie Residences’ 509-cabin vessel will not be operating traditional Caribbean or Alaskan excursions.
The residential ship plans to round the planet every 3 ½ years, visiting 147 countries and 425 destinations while offering the conveniences of a cruise liner.
The trip was originally expected to depart in May following the company’s acquisition of Fred Olsen trip Lines’ more than 30-year-old Braemar vessel, now renamed Villa Vie Odyssey, in December 2023.
However, Villa Vie has stated that concerns such as the old ship’s rudder stocks and recertification have delayed its departure.
Mikael Petterson, the creator and CEO of Villa Vie, told Business Insider in an email in September that his “best guess” is that the residential vessel will set sail on September 9 or 10, with some itinerary revisions.
“But it’s a moving target if it’s either of those days,” he pointed out.
