On 21st June, at the inauguration program organized in front of 1 Anne Marg at 10:30 am, Honorable Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar flagged off 117 police vehicles (Bihar Police). These vehicles will greatly help Bihar Police in strengthening road safety, traffic system and prohibition of human trafficking.

Out of 117 vehicles, 56 have been selected for traffic police stations, 23 for national highway patrolling and 38 for preventing human trafficking, which will prove helpful for the common people in emergency situations. National Highway Patrolling vehicles will play the role of first responder in case of road accidents. Highway Patrolling vehicles are equipped with 40 speed radars as well as automatic e-challan facility with evidence camera. The inauguration program was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Bihar, Shri Samrat Chaudhary and Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha.

1. 56 vehicles for traffic police stations

Traffic police stations were already functioning in 12 districts under Bihar State. In the remaining 28 districts (including police districts Bagaha and Navgachiya), one traffic police station and one Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) have been approved.

For the proper discharge of duties of these traffic police stations, 02 vehicles have been purchased in each police station, i.e. a total of 56 new vehicles, which will provide the required assistance in the traffic system, road safety and traffic management of the districts.

2. 23 vehicles for National Highway Patrol

The highest number of road accident deaths (44) have occurred on national highways, the main reason for which is ineffective enforcement and emergency response
To control these deaths in accidents, 1560 manpower has been sanctioned under Highway Patrol Scheme and in the first phase, a total of 23 Highway Patrol Vehicles (with various equipment) have been purchased.

A total distance of 1125 Km (one vehicle every 50 Km) is being covered through these vehicles on the four most accident prone National Highways 28, 30, 31 and 57.

These vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art 4D speed radar and automatic e-challan facility with evidence camera. Also, for emergency situations, they are equipped with gas cutting machine, traffic cone, foldable stretcher, etc.
These vehicles have been integrated with Dial 112 which will act as First Responder in case of road accidents on highways

3. 38 vehicles to prevent human trafficking-

The said vehicles have been purchased and allotted for strengthening the Human Trafficking Prevention Units (AHTU) in all the districts of the state.
