catfish and the bottlemen tour cancelled Fans Devastated as Catfish and The Bottlemen Cancel Australian Tour Hours Before Sydney Show

catfish and the bottlemen tour cancelled Aussie fans of the indie rock sensation Catfish and The Bottlemen were left heartbroken after the band abruptly canceled their highly anticipated Australian tour, just hours before their scheduled performance in Sydney. This unfortunate development follows a similarly disappointing cancellation of their Dublin gig on September 1, where they pulled out just 10 minutes before hitting the stage, citing urgent medical reasons.

The Welsh band, originally formed in 2007, announced the decision through their promoters, Frontier Touring. The statement revealed that the band was forced to cancel on “doctor’s orders,” due to an undisclosed illness affecting one or more members of the group.

Catfish and The Bottlemen want to thank the fans for their support. This weekend, they were hoping to still be able to perform but, on doctor’s orders, they were forced to cancel their show in Dublin,” read the statement sent to ticket holders.

Adding to fans’ concerns, it appears this medical issue isn’t isolated. The cancellations now extend beyond Australia, with ticketholders in the U.S. and Canada receiving notifications that their upcoming shows in October have also been axed. This unfortunate turn of events suggests that what was intended to be the band’s grand comeback tour may have come to a premature end.

The indie group, known for hits like “Homesick” and their debut album The Balcony, experienced a meteoric rise in popularity after first breaking onto the scene in 2013. With nearly 70 million streams of “Homesick” on Spotify alone, the band quickly became an indie rock staple. Their follow-up albums The Ride (2016) and The Balance (2019) only solidified their reputation before the band went on hiatus in 2021, citing internal struggles.

Fans were ecstatic when frontman Van McCann and bassist Benji Blakeway returned for a highly anticipated comeback tour. However, with two of the original members absent from the lineup, the band’s future is once again in question, particularly following these latest cancellations.

For now, the band has sincerely apologized for the inconvenience and disappointment this has caused their global fanbase. Yet, as the tour unraveling continues, questions loom about what lies ahead for Catfish and The Bottlemen.

While the future remains uncertain, their loyal fans continue to hope for better news as they await further updates from the band.
