Bihar Police's Dial-112 provided services to 20 lakh emergency citizens in 2 years…


Today, on 06 July 2024, 2 years have been completed since the launch of Dial 112 service in Bihar. On this occasion, the second anniversary of Dial 112 service was celebrated at the Command and Control Center of Emergency Response Support System (ERSS Dial-112) located at Rajvanshinagar, Patna. During this, Shri Nirmal Kumar Azad, Additional Director General of Police, Technical Services and Fiber, Bihar appreciated the meaningful efforts being made by all the police officers / personnel working in ERSS Dial-112 to make Dial 112 more effective. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Superintendent of Police (Operations) and other police officers / personnel were present in the program.

▪️ Till now 20 lakh citizens have got emergency services- Let us tell you that on 06.07.2022, Dial 112 service was started in the state by the Honorable Chief Minister, Bihar. Since then, through Dial 112, emergency services related to ambulance, police and fire brigade have been provided to 20 lakh citizens across the state through 1833 vehicles in an average of 20 minutes.

▪️ Bihar ranks second in the country in call handling – According to the available data, Bihar ranks 7th in the country on the basis of response time of dial 112, while Bihar ranks second in the country in handling calls coming on dial 112.

▪️ 5 thousand people are getting emergency services every day- Bihar is the only state in the country where every call coming on dial 112 is being received by women police personnel. About 5 thousand people in the state are getting the benefit of various types of emergency services every day. The response time of dial 112 is the same from urban areas to rural areas.

▪️ Feedback will be taken from every caller – This year, the target is to provide emergency services related to police, ambulance and fire brigade for crime control to more than 15 lakh people through Dial 112. The main objective is to provide immediate help to 18 to 20 lakh citizens in the next year 2025. In such a situation, to give strength to citizen-centric policing, feedback will be taken from every caller calling on Dial 112, so that every complaint can be resolved 100%.

▪️ Successful resolution of various types of complaints received on dial 112

– In the last 2 years, 10 lakh 59 thousand 782 cases of local disputes, assault and violent clashes were resolved through Dial 112.
– 1 lakh 80 thousand 817 cases related to domestic violence, crimes against women and children were resolved promptly.
– Thousands of lives were saved by providing immediate help to the injured in 81 thousand 268 road accident cases.
– In 71 thousand 994 cases of fire, many houses were saved from being completely destroyed by immediately sending the fire brigade team to the site of incident.

▪️ Decline in crime cases- Due to these prompt actions of Dial 112, there has been a decline in cases of robbery, theft and riot across the state. In the year 2023, compared to the previous year, there was a decrease of 15.39 percent in robbery, 5.93 percent in theft and 15.82 percent in riot cases.

▪️ Single Police Helpline- Dial 112 will now work as a step forward. To provide maximum services to the citizens of Bihar, Dial 112 is being developed as a single police helpline, through which people will get other services apart from police, fire brigade and ambulance.
