2025 lamborghini temerario : The Hybrid Supercar with a Bespoke V8 Engine Lamborghini has unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 Temerario, a plug-in hybrid supercar that replaces the beloved Huracán as the brand’s “entry-level” offering.
However, the Temerario’s stats are anything but entry-level, boasting an impressive 907 horsepower and a bespoke V8 engine that can rev up to an astonishing 10,000 rpm.
In an exclusive interview with Edmunds, Lamborghini’s chief marketing and sales officer, Federico Foschini, revealed that the Temerario’s powertrain is a significant departure from the Huracán’s famous 5.2-liter V10.
The new setup features a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbochargers in a hot-vee configuration and a flat-plane crankshaft, which allows for a higher-revving engine with less rotating mass.
But the Temerario’s power doesn’t come solely from its internal combustion engine. The supercar also features a 3.8-kWh battery pack and three electric motors, which contribute an additional 118 horsepower to the overall output.
This hybrid system allows the Temerario to rival the performance of the V12-powered Revuelto, Lamborghini’s flagship model. What sets the Temerario apart is its bespoke V8 engine, which Foschini proudly stated will not be used in any other Volkswagen Group vehicles.
“This V8 is conceived, developed and will be produced by us,” he told Edmunds during Monterey Car Week. “It is very much oriented for this kind of mission, that an engine can rev to 10,000 rpm is perfect for a car like this. There was not something like this that existed in the group, so we decided to make it ourselves.”
The introduction of the Temerario marks a significant milestone for Lamborghini, as it completes the brand’s transition to plug-in hybrid power across its entire lineup, at least for the time being.
Foschini emphasized that this strategy was always part of Lamborghini’s plan, as the company believes hybridization is the way forward to balance sustainability with driving emotion.
While Lamborghini remains committed to hybrid technology for its super sports cars in the near future, Foschini hinted at the brand’s electrification plans beyond the Temerario. He revealed that Lamborghini plans to introduce its first fully electric vehicle before the end of the decade, a 2+2 GT car similar to the Lanzador concept showcased last year.
At the heart of the 2024 Temerario is a new 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine mated with a 3.8kWh battery pack paired with three electric motors. The combined power figure stands at 907bhp.
The fossil fuel-powered engine develops 789bhp singing away to glory up to 10,000rpm, while the peak torque of 730Nm comes up between 4,000-7,000rpm. The electric powertrain has an output of 295bhp and powers the front wheels, thereby enabling a 4WD configuration. Meanwhile, transmission duties are taken care of by an eight-speed DCT unit.
The Lamborghini Temerario represents a bold step forward for the brand, combining cutting-edge hybrid technology with a bespoke, high-revving V8 engine. As enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to experience this supercar firsthand, Lamborghini’s commitment to innovation and performance remains undiminished.
